ARNE DYBFEST’S SHORT STORY “A LONESOME” IN THE HISTORICAL-CULTURAL CONTEXT

The article discusses a short story by Arne Dybfest (1869–1892), who has become a personification of a decadent writer for his contemporaries. Though none of his writings can be equaled to the most prominent opuses of 1890s, his short story “A Lonesome” touches upon some themes that were popular in the time when realism in literature gave way to the new modern tendencies.
