ON 40™ ANNIVERSARY OF NETHERLANDISH SECTION

In September 2012 the Netherlandish Section of the Department of Scandinavian and Netherlandish Philology, Philological Faculty, St. Petersburg State University, celebrates its 40th anniversary. The founders of the section were the famous specialists in Scandinavian languages M. I. Steblin-Kamensky and VP.Berkov, who in the 1970th also taught theoretical subjects of Dutch. Within 40 years more than 80 people graduated from the Section. Many graduates work as university teachers in Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kiev, Ghent, Amsterdam, others work as interpreters and translators in various fields, including the top level talks between Russia and the Netherlands. Graduates have defended 10 dissertations, written numerous articles and books, published thousands of pages of translations from Dutch.
