The article deals with the motive of murder of Sweden’s prime-minister Olof Palme in Swedish fiction of the 2000-s. A part of the plot in several crime and action stories of the beginning of the new century the assassination of Olof Palme turned out to be a productive theme for non-crime narratives as well. The two examples examined in this study are “The Snow Angel” by Anna-Karin Palm and “Outsider” by Torbjörn Flygt both published in 2011.
The study aims at examining to which extent the tragic historical episode has become myth in the nation’s cultural consciousness.
