THE MOTIVE OF “THE PROPHET AND THE MOB” IN THE NOVELS BY PER OLOV ENQUIST

The article deals with the subject of “the prophet and the mob” in the oeuvre of modern Swedish classic Per Olov Enquist. The main focai are his major novels “The Magnetist’s Fifth Winter”, “The March of the Musicians”, “Captain Nomo’s Library”, “The Visit of the Royal Physician”, “Lewi’s Journey”. The conclusion is made that the author discreetly makes use of the image of Christ and Gospel structure to promote his vision of history and human nature in the novels in question.
