BERNHARD SEVERIN INGEMANN’S ROMANTIC PROSE

This article focuses on prose works by Bernhard Severin Ingemann (1789- 1862) — one of the most prominent Danish romantic writers. He was a poet, a novelist, an author of short stories and fairy tales. He wrote the first national historical novels but now they are of the academic interest mostly. In our days Ingemanns sort stories are relatively popular because they deals with deep human psychology and sometimes with the subconscious sphere. The romantic fantasy and the traditional opposition of the reality and the supernatural world became types of means for creation of the psychological conflict in this sort of texts. Ingemann’s short prose could be considered as the first examples of Danish psychological short stories.
