The article looks at the means of expressing evidential meanings in Danish, which belong to the area of epistemic modality. Reproducing other person s words the speaker can distance himself from the reproduced information, be doubtful about its authenticity or believe in its truthfulness. A comparative analysis of evidential means in Danish makes it possible to elicit various degrees of the speakers epistemic guarantee of the rendered information as well as to specify typical contexts of its use.
