Norwegian language is envisaged as threatened by the English language. English keeps pressing Norwegian away from some professional spheres; English loan words are abundant in modern Norwegian. Some see the threat as coming from “kebab-Norwegian”, while both standard Norwegian varieties (bokmål and nynorsk) are changing under the influence from dialects. Anyway, as long as Norwegians themselves recognize their language as Norwegian, it should be considered as such.
