The article deals with analysis of lists of new words published in periodi- cal Språkvård / Språktidningen between years 2001 and 2008. The total body of examples consists of around 300 words. By researching this material one is allowed to profile the key issues which the Swedish society has dealt with during the first decade of the 21st century as well as to make certain observations concerning some most characteristic modes of import and formation of words in the modern Swedish.
