SEMANTIC AND SYNTACTIC ASPECTS OF EVALUATIVE NOUNS REFERRING TO PEOPLE IN DANISH

The emotions and associations connected to a word are known as its evaluative meaning. The present paper deals with s tudying of the evaluative connotations of nouns referring to people in modem Danish. We concentrate on the semantic and syntactic aspects of such words mainly used in colloquial speech. The analysis of various texts has shown that depending on the context the nouns with positive connotation can carry a negative connotation and vice versa.
