SYNTACTIC COMPRESSION IN SWEDISH AND ENGLISH/AMERICAN ADVERTS

 

Syntactic ways of language compression in Swedish and English/American adverbs are discussed in this paper. Incomplete sentences are typical for English/American adverts. Nominative one-member sentences as an instrument of language compression are more often used in Swedish adverts while parcellation is more characteristic for English/American adverts.
