TEMPORAL METALEXEMES IN NORWEGIAN AND TIME-RELATED SEMAT1C COMPONENTS

In this article the author attempts to pick out and describe the semantics of temporal metalexemes» i.e. nouns of very high generalization ability considering language temporality. Author gives a list of features characterizing metalexemes and demonstrates that semantics of the Norwegian word tid ‘time’ meets all the characteristics of a metalexeme, as well as 5 other Norwegian words: begynnelse ‘beginning, shutt ‘end’, alder ‘age’, gang ‘time’ (iterative), stund ‘period’. Being very close to semantic primitives, temporal metalexemes can also appear as time-related semantic components.
