The article deals with novel “Progress” (’’Utveckling”) from the point of view of August Strindbergs individuation. Principles of deep psychology are shown in the coordination with author’s self-awareness. Sphere of interests determines themes and motives of writing, development of genres and evolution of creativity methods. Artistic means express symbolism of author’s worldview.
