THE SEMANTICS OF SIZE IN NORWEGIAN

The article deals with the semantics of size in the Norwegian language and lists the most important ways of describing the size of objects. Those include the traditional units of measure alongside with the use of comparative constructions with and without conjunctions, compound adjectives like knehøy knee-high and dimensional adjectives. The article brings out the importance of the anthropocentrical factor in relation to sizing things up in the Norwegian language.
