The problem of identifying Danish modal particles as a distinct category of the speaker’s propositional attitude markers has been, until recently, a matter of linguistic dispute. The criteria cited in the article make it possible to determine the status of the Danish modal particles. One of such criteria is their ability to be used in combinations for mutual reinforcement. The key to understanding the order of sequence of modal particles in the sentence structure is their pragmasemantic characteristics and functional directedness towards one of the participants of the communicative model.
